Academic Program

 

In response to the school’s philosophy and goals, Laguna BelAir School has developed educational objectives for its elementary and high school levels. Moreover, with the DepEd permit to operate as a Science High School, a rigorous but practical curriculum in Science and Math awaits the students.

 

Pre-school and Elementary

 

The pre-elementary and elementary department aims to specifically assist students in the following areas: Attain their full potentials as human beings, enhance the range and quality of their participation in the functions of society, and provide the skills necessary for their development into productive and versatile citizens. Provide basic knowledge and develop the skills, attitudes and essential values necessary for the continued development of each student with emphasis on science and mathematics. Provide learning experiences that will develop the awareness and responsiveness of students to the constantly changing social milieu. Promote among the students a feeling of identification with and love for the nation and its people.

 

High School

 

The objectives of the secondary level, in addition to the four aforementioned, include the development in the following higher areas:

 

Discover and enhance the different aptitudes and interests of individual students and equip them with skills for productive endeavor.

 

Provide the skills necessary for formal studies in higher (tertiary) education also with emphasis on science and mathematics.

 

Grading System

 

The Academic year is divided into three semesters for preschool, grade school and high school.  Grades are released at the end of each trimester.

 

Special Science Curriculum

 

With the DepEd permit to operate as a Science High School, Laguna BelAir School is now fully implementing the special Mathematics and Science curriculum which adds to the academic edge of our students over their counterparts in the region.

 

The school has adopted the Philippine Science High School Curriculum. The usual core subjects like English, Filipino, Social Studies, PEHM (Physical Education, Health and Music), THE (Technology and Home Economics) and Values Education are taught along with additional subjects in the fields of Mathematics, Science Research and Statistics. Even the elementary students are given special training in mathematics, science and computer in preparation for high school.

 

High school students are introduced to the various branches of science and mathematics. The first year students take Integrated Science and General Math with extra courses like Environmental Science and Practical Math. The second year students take Biology and Intermediate Algebra with additional courses like Statistics and Basic Science Research. The third year students take Physics, Chemistry, Algebra with Geometry and Plane Trigonometry. The fourth year study Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Physics, Analytic Geometry, Calculus, and Special Problems in Research.
